We are thrilled to be able to carry Ekelund's fine linens and would like to share a little history and information about this amazing company.
Ekelund has been Master Weavers since 1692, for 16 generations, and over 450 years!! Probably the oldest textile family company in the world. Märta Ingmarsdotter, followed in her father Ingmar’s footsteps. Märta was a visionary with far fetching ideas. She started a family, a textile business and a tradition at a time when women were expected to stay home and care for the children.
Today, Ekelund produces some of the finest quality linens available with natural materials that have been cultivated, harvested and selected with respect for the environment and recognized by the Swedish Society for Nature Conservation. In addition, Ekelund Weavers is certified by GOTS (The Global Organic Textile Standard), the world’s leading processing standard for organic textiles. There are no exaggeration to say that Ekelund is one of the most environmentally friendly textile factories in the world.
Ekelunds have been purveyors to The Royal Court of Sweden for over a century. They have also supplied linen to Kremlin, Russia and to His Majesty Akihito of Japan.
